Book in advance. It is recommended to book Montparnasse Tower tickets in advance as the capacity post-COVID has been reduced significantly.
Get to the deck. The observation deck on its 56th floor offers 360-degree views of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Make sure to book the tickets accordingly to avoid queuing.
Named after the Montparnasse area in Paris, Montparnasse Tower sits high at 210 meters, which is around 100 meters less than that of the Eiffel Tower. Touted as the ugliest building in Paris, Montparnasse Tower is the third tallest in entire France and contrasts with other Parisian structures because of its black appearance.
Built on the top of a metro station called Montparnasse – Bienvenüe station, Montparnasse Tower offers surreal views of the French capital. The construction was started back in 1969 by French multinational VINCI and got completed in 1973.
It is the 14th tallest structure in the entire European Union, the oldest skyscraper in Paris, and the tallest structure in France outside the business district of La Défense. When it was first designed, it received instant criticism because of its simplistic design. It was also voted second ugliest structure in the world in 2008, per a survey by Virtual Tourist. Regardless, it provides far-fetched views from its observation deck. On a clear day, you can see the Parisian skyline and 360-degrees views up to 40 kilometers.
Montparnasse Tower is open every day from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm. The last entry for admission is 30 minutes before closing.
If you are coming via metro, the nearest metro station is Montparnasse-Bienvenue which you can reach with metros 4, 6, 12 and 13. You can also take a bus (28, 58, 82, 88, 89, 91, 92, 94, 95 and 96) that has a stop within the walking distance of the tower.
You can enjoy the best views of the Parisian skyline while dining at Ciel de la Paris, a panoramic restaurant that is also the highest in Paris. You can also enjoy refreshments at the 360 Café and La Brasserie Fondamentale Rooftop Bar.
From April 2022, the ticket costs are priced at 19€ for adults, 14€ for students, 8€ for children, and 7.50€ for people with disability.
