Overview

The old quarter of Delhi was one of the most beautiful cities in the world when constructed in 17th century by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan and was named Shahjahanabad. But, with time it has eroded into a web of narrow alleys held together with big mesh of electric cables. Yet, this part of the Indian capital has not lost its charm. Its chaotic lanes infused with the smell of brewing tea are full of history and captivating sights.

On this adventurous cycle tour, go back in time, experience Shahjahanabad, and learn about its history from a local.

Here’s the plan…

Your Shahjahanabad cycle tour begins from Delite Cinema, one of the oldest theatres in the capital. The route that you will follow is:

  • Turkman Gate
  • Chawri Bazar
  • Fatehpuri Masjid
  • Spice Market
  • Madras Colony
  • Civil Lines (tea break)
  • Old Delhi railway station
  • Chandni Chowk
  • Red Fort (from outside)
  • Jama Masjid (from outside)

Old Delhi roads are mostly chaotic but you will be guided safely by your guide, making your cycling experience smooth and comfortable. Your tour ends with a delicious breakfast at the famous Karim’s Restaurant which has acquired legendary status since its existence in 1913.
