Bangkok’s waterways are an integral part of the city’s landscape and offer a visitor fascinating glimpses into the traditional Thai way of life. Enjoy the ‘floating markets’ and the mobile homes by exploring the city's charming waterways. Boats with different coloured flags sailing on the river make for a picturesque scene.
Get a fabulous view of the towering spire of the magnificent Wat Arun temple, also known as the Temple of Dawn, one of the most famous landmarks of the city, situated on the west banks of the Chao Phraya river. Once you enter the temple, you will be mesmerized by its interiors too.
Take a canal tour of the city and discover the many charms of this bustling metropolis.
This tour is available in two options – coach and private. The private option offers you greater flexibility and you can spend as much or as little time at any of the places that you visit. Unlike the tight schedules of coach tours, the private option allows you to do the tour at your own pace.
You will be picked up from your hotel and taken on a river cruise in the Thonburi area, accompanied by a local English-speaking guide.
The highlights of this cruise are:
• Boat ride along the canals (klongs): Your tour will take you on a cruise along Thailand’s main river, the Chao Phraya, also called the ‘River of Kings’. As you meander in and out of the network of interconnecting canals (klongs) in the Thonburi area, you can enjoy the charming sight of family homes, mobile shops, 'floating kitchens' and colourful scenery dotted along the waterways.
• Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn): You'll stop at the dazzling Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) along the way. This is the most well-known landmark and photographed image of Bangkok. It stands on the west bank of Chao Phraya and its colossal spire (prang) is one of Bangkok's world-famous landmarks. Over 70 metres high, the spire is beautifully decorated with tiny pieces of coloured glass and Chinese porcelain placed delicately into intricate patterns. The smaller towers are equally beautifully adorned with ceramics that sparkle in the sun. Although it is known as the Temple of the Dawn, it is absolutely stunning at sunset.
At the end of the three-hour cruise, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Bangkok.
Please call the tour operator at least 24 hours prior to start of the tour to reconfirm the departure details.
For coach tour, pick up time is 30 – 45 minutes before the start time.
