Overview

Drive through Bali's scenic west coast and hike up the Kawah Ijen volcano in this 2-day tour. Discover hidden sites that only a few are able to see and marvel at the view from the volcano's crater.

Day 1: Denpasar – Banyuwangi               

Depart in the morning from your hotel aboard a mini bus and proceed to the west coast of the island. This area is a place where only a very few tourists get to see so make sure to stop for photos amid terraced rice fields, surf beaches, rustic villages, and the stunning Bali National Park.

Then, take a short ferry that crosses to Java and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before proceeding on a city tour in the town of Banyuwangi. Enjoy next a pedicab ride to the Kampongs in the city, visit the traditional market and Chinese temple, and end the tour with a drive to Ijen Resort and Villa. Partake of a sumptuous dinner here and stay for the night.

Day 2: Ijen Crater

Open your second day with an early wake-up call and a bountiful breakfast to prepare you for your second day’s excursion. Begin the adventure by getting on a four-wheel drive vehicle to the slope of Mount Ijen, passing through a rainforest and some plantations. Make a stop first at the Park Ranger’s post before hiking further up the slope of the crater which takes about an hour and a half to two hours.

Upon arriving, take your needed rest and sit near the edge of the crater which is at an altitude of 2883 metres. Admire the sulphuric lake as it reflects an eerie colour over the surrounding walls, giving it an apocalypse-like impression. Be in awe of the fact that some men descend into the crater to get some sulphur and climb back up along the rim carrying about 80 kilos of it on their shoulders. After you have had your fill of the scenery at the top, drive back to your hotel for lunch and then depart for Bali.
