Overview

Visit the Fatehpur Sikri constructed four centuries ago by the Mughal Emperor Akbar as the first planned city in Indo-Islamic style. The city was actualized with great energy, but was completely abandoned a little more than a decade later. As you walk around the vast complex, your expert guide will fill you in on the many stories, legends and rich history of Fatehpur Sikri.

The majestic monument is built in red sandstone and is a beautiful blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural elements. Several tourists over the years have made sure to visit Fatehpur Sikri after seeing the Taj Mahal and it’s not a stretch that the red sandstone structure is considered to be more beautiful than the Taj Mahal by many visitors!
This capital city of Akbar was unfortunately abandoned later due to scarcity of water. Had water not been an issue, perhaps this city could’ve been just as prosperous as the home of the Taj Mahal. Post your tour, enjoy comfortable transfers back to your hotel.
