Journey through the famous Swiss Alps to visit Grindelwald and Interlaken! You can take a beautiful cable car ride to the top of Grindelwald's Mt. First (Optional), home to plenty of hiking, biking, and skiing trails, or simply relax and explore the resort.
After a brief train ride to Interlaken, you can shop until you drop at the many diverse stores, enjoy the breath-taking view of the snowy mountains, or hike or take a cable car ride up to the restaurant and observation deck at the top of Harder Kulm.
Your tour to Grindelwald & Interlaken starts from Zurich's Sihlquai bus terminal at 8:00am. A multilingual guide who speaks English and Spanish will accompany you for portions of the trip, but you'll be on your own for leisure time in Grindelwald and Interlaken and train ride from Grindelwald to Interlaken.
The first stop on your day-long excursion to Switzerland's famous resorts is a brief break at Interlaken. You will reach Interlaken and will have around 30-45 minutes break. Don't worry that this stop is short; you'll return to Interlaken later for a more leisurely look around. After a scenic coach ride through the Alps, you'll arrive at Grindelwald around midday, a winter sports resort also known as Glacier Village.
The remainder of the tour is at leisure, you will be given a train ticket back to Interlaken along with a timetable. You need to allow 35 minutes to reach Interlaken.
Meanwhile you are free to explore individually, and have time to take in the beautiful scenery. Grindelwald offers a number of activities, such as a cable car ride to Mt. First, Grindelwald's main mountain that's home to skiing and other snow sports in the winter, and hiking and biking in the summer. The cable car takes you over 2000 metres up; this is a great time to photograph the spectacular snowy view (Optional Activities).
In the early afternoon, you'll board the train to Interlaken, where you'll spend the rest of the day. Your stay at Interlaken is a wonderful opportunity to shop, as the resort boasts many diverse shops that sell everything from clothing to Swiss army knives and local produce. Interlaken also offers cable car rides to its own mountain, Harder Kulm, at an elevation of over 1300 metres, where a restaurant looks out over the famous Swiss Alps (Optional).
After shopping, dining and hiking at Interlaken you will depart for Zurich around 5:45pm. Tours reach Zurich around 8:00pm.
