Itinerary

Your tour kicks off with a scenic drive along the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area of north-eastern Taiwan. Admire the numerous capes and bays backed by green mountains, a common swimming spot for the locals and a popular tourist destination.

Discover the village of Jiufen, a 1890s gold mining boomtown that has since faded into a quaint village that you see today. Soak in the picturesque setting of old homes cradled among steep mountains. Explore the cozy teahouses of Jiufen Old Street, a narrow, cobbled street that takes you back in time. Jiufen Village was the inspiration for the sets featured in the Oscar-winning animation Spirited Away.

Proceed to the Nanya coastline dotted with fascinating rock formations formed by weathering sandstone. Pass by breathtaking views at the Yin-Yang Sea (Bay of Two Colors) and notice how the striped pattern in the rock is created by oxidized iron ore.

Pass by Jinguashi 13 Ruins (remains of the 13 Levels), an abandoned copper smelter owned by Taiwan Metal Company, which later suffered a rapid crash as the cost of extraction and purification of copper became an infeasible burden.
