‘You know we belong together. You and I forever and ever. No matter where we are …‘ If you haven’t recognised this song yet then you may as well click off this page. If you’re singing along with us, then welcome die-hard Home and Away-ers. It’s your lucky day.
As you might’ve gathered, this tour is about everything Home and Away. Australia’s all-time favourite beach soap has captured the hearts of generations through its depictions of the trials and tribulations of the locals in this disaster-laden ‘burb and the iconic grumblings of one Alf Stuart. On the agenda for this tour is a visit to Home and Away’s key filming location, the stunning Palm Beach, an hour and a half’s drive away from Sydney’s CBD. You’ll check out locations like the Bay Surf Club, the Pier, Alf's Bait Shop and the Lighthouse, and hear the stories behind the production of this popular Aussie soap (your guide has all the insider knowledge).
If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see the production in action and watch filming take place. If you’re extremely lucky the cast may stop by and take a few pics with you too (although we can’t make any promises, it wholly depends on what’s going on that day). This tour is a real celebration of an Aussie pastime; a show that still touches the hearts of many both at home and further abroad too.
Here’s the plan…
Meet your guide and group outside the Museum of Contemporary Art in The Rocks. Hop on the Home and Away bus and get ready for the drive to the show’s key filming location. Palm Beach is about an hour and a half’s drive from Sydney, and along the way, your driver-guide will pepper you with info about life in Sydney, Home and Away’s history and legacy, and reveal a few insider secrets too.
Once you arrive to Palm Beach you’ll check out a variety of key filming locations, including the Bay Surf Club, the Pier, Alf's Bait Shop and the Lighthouse, as well as the beach itself. Your guide will fill you in on what was filmed where and run you through how the production of a show of this magnitude actually works. All the smoke and mirrors will be revealed. You’ll learn everything from call times and set lists to casting actors. If you’re lucky, you might come across some filming in action and get to meet the cast in between scenes.
After a good explore of the area, you’ll hop back on the bus and head to some of the houses that the team at Home and Away film from. After a quick drive-by, your guide will take you to Manly. You’ll be dropped off here - at the busiest neighbourhood on the Northern Beaches - where you can grab dinner and drinks or hop on a quick ferry back to Circular Quay.
Voucher Information: Show your voucher on your smartphone or other device (if you'd rather print a copy - that's fine too!)
If you plan your tour for a production day, there’s a good chance that you may witness filming for future episodes of Home and Away, but we can’t guarantee this - it comes down to the luck of the draw. You may also get lucky and grab a few pictures with your favorite cast members, but again, there’s no guarantee, and it solely depends on what’s going on that day.
