  • Overview & Itinerary

    Overview

Soak in the rich cultural heritage of the Malays at the Malay ethnic area on this unique tour of Singapore’s East Coast and Changi. The Changi Museum is a tribute to those brave men and women who fought and were interned during some of the darkest hours of the Japanese occupation in World War II. Near the eastern tip of Singapore, a drive through the rustic and laid-back Changi Village is a great way to see the relaxing side of Singapore and provides a contrast to the Tampines New Town, a typical heartland township of present day Singapore.

    Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Singapore at 1:30pm and taken in an air-conditioned coach to the East Coast and Changi in Singapore. An English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.

The highlights of this tour include:

Kampong Glam: named after the Gelam Tree, it was once the seat of the old Malay Royalty and still retains the charm of a bygone era and the influence of the Arab traders.

Changi Chapel and Museum: The Changi Chapel, situated within the open-air courtyard of the Museum, faithfully replicates the many chapels built during the Japanese Occupation. Built by Changi prison inmates, it stands as a tribute to those who maintained their faith and dignity during those dark years. As you tour the Changi Chapel and Museum, your guide will recount stories of the collective spirit that rose through the darkest times of World War II.

Changi Village: A drive through the rustic and laid-back Changi village gives you a chance to see the relaxing side of Singapore and provides a contrast to your next and final stop.

Tampines New Town: This is a typical heartland township of present day Singapore.

Next travel like the locals using the MRT public transport. Part of the journey runs above ground and journeys through many scenic parts of Singapore’s heartland. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Singapore.
