In this fully guided tour, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
Founded in 525BC the complex of Chichen Itza has been recognized as one of the New Wonders of the World and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
At this impressive site, you will find such fabulous structures as the Pyramid of Kukuclan, the Sacrificial Well, the Observatory, the Monk’s Cloister, the Observatory, the Wall of Skulls, and the world’s biggest ball court where a whisper can be heard kilometres away due to the powerful acoustic properties of the structure.
Chichen Itza attracted a large influx of visitors around the time of the Spring Equinox, drawn by a phenomenon whereby a light-and-shadow effect on the Temple of Kukulcan means that the feathered serpent god supposedly can be seen to crawl down the side of the pyramid. However, there is plenty to see all year round at this renowned centre of Mayan civilization.
And when you get hungry you can enjoy a traditional Mexican lunch (drinks included) at the Hubiku restaurant. On the way back we will also stop to visit the colonial town of Valladolid where you can cool down in the waters of its cenote. This is one excursion you cannot afford to miss if you are staying in or around the Riviera Maya or Cancun.
