Travel from Paris to the Palace of Versailles in an air-conditioned coach. Avoid long queues at the entry gates with your skip-the-line Versailles ticket. Collect your audio guide, and enjoy learning the fascinating facts, anecdotes and stories about this 17th century UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enter the royal chambers of King Louis XIV who built the palace in the mid-17th century when he moved court from Paris. He constructed expansive Versailles to be large enough to house his entire court and aristocracy. Be enamored by the extravagance of King Louis XIV’s intimate chambers, the decadent halls lined with statues, and the wonderful gardens. One of the major highlights of Versailles is the spectacular Hall of Mirrors, where the historic Treaty of Versailles, ending the World War I, was signed in June 1919. You can also stroll in the formal gardens which were designed by Andre le Notre. Almost as impressive as the palace itself are its ponds, tree lined avenues, marble and bronze statues, fountains, and the secondary royal residences including Marie Antoinette’s rural retreat, the Queen’s Hamlet. You may also see the Musical Fountains and the Gardens and enjoy the fanciful histrionics of Versailles’ water fountains accompanied by musical compositions from Lully, Desmarets, Gluck and Rameau. At the end of the tour, you will return Paris by coach. Upon arrival, you must make your own way back to your accommodation.
The confirmation voucher includes the local activity operator’s contact details. They’re a nice bunch, and will happily answer any logistical questions you may have. Please give them a call at least 24 hours before your organised activity to reconfirm.
No modifications to the tour will be entertained, 5 days prior to the departure date.
Strollers are not permitted inside the palace.
