Overview

Know your Bordeaux from your Burgundy? Rhone Valley to your Languedoc Roussillon? Join a wine masterclass and you soon will. Held in a Parisian wine cellar, you'll spend two hours improving your wine knowledge. You will taste, you will analyse as you take your first steps on a journey to becoming a French wine connoisseur. The world of wine can be complicated. Labels, grape varieties, blend, the terroir! This masterclass, led by a French oenological teacher will take you from being a novice to understanding the complexities of French wine. You’ll taste 5 different varieties from the most important French vineyards. Analysing each step-by-step, and building on your knowledge of this most complex of drink varieties. You will also get advice to choose and buy French wines, so you’ll be able to take what you’ve learnt and put it into practice when you get home.

About your guide: 

For Meeting the French, touring the Eiffel tower is 'old school'. They don't herd you onto a bus and have you driven to the famous sights. Oh no, they focus on intimate and original experiences which celebrate the French lifestyle and culture, helping you to see the real Paris. The city they call home.

Here’s the plan…

You’ll enter a Parisian ‘caviste’ where you’re tasting masterclass takes place. With the help of your French oenological teacher, you’ll be taken through the steps of understanding French wines.

During the two-hour session, you will become familiar with the technical language to taste and describe wine accurately. You’ll understand the main concepts and the specificities of the French terroir, which roughly translates to the soil of the region, the climate and weather, and the vineyards themselves. You’ll also, as you taste 5 different varieties of wines learn to judge their differing qualities. All the time with the help of your wine expert taking you through step-by-step.

All in all, you’ll have built on your knowledge of wine, tasted some of the different regions best wines and been given advice on which wines to buy. Drinking wine back at home will be a whole new experience after this masterclass.
