Overview

Want to get into the heart of intellectual Paris? Drink some champagne over lunch and discover a side to the city you might usually not see? If the answer is yes and yes then this is the tour for you. Visit the Saint-Germain-des-Pres district, learn about the people who lived there and enjoy a champagne lunch. Your introduction to high society starts here. You’ll be guided through one of Paris’s most stylish districts, learning about the influencers who lived there. The writers, artists and intellectuals that have shaped the city. Afterwards, your Champagne guide will take you into their cellar where you’ll learn about the famous drink, and developing your knowledge of this most celebratory of drinks. You'll be tasting the champagne (three varieties) and mixing it with appropriate French dishes, gourmet tea or coffee and dessert for that perfect lunch. It's a tour that will add sparkle to your Paris stay.

About your guide

For Meeting the French, touring the Eiffel tower is 'old school'. They don't herd you onto a bus and have you driven to the famous sights. Oh no, they focus on intimate and original experiences which celebrate the French lifestyle and culture, helping you to see the real Paris. The city they call home.

Here’s the plan

You’ll meet up in Paris’s intellectual and artistic district of Saint-Germain des Prés. Then for the next two and a half hours, you’ll be guided around the neighbourhood, learning about the influential people who helped shape Paris. From artists, musicians to intellectuals, your guide is on hand to point out where they lived and what they did to make this one of the cities most decorated districts. Filling in those historical details to help you build a complete picture.

After the tour, you’ll have worked up a thirst so it’s onto the restaurant where your champagne guide will take you into their cellar. There you will learn about champagne, and develop your knowledge of this famous drink. This will include tasting 3 different types (well it’ll be rude not to try some when you’re in a champagne cellar!) Accompanied by appropriate French dishes. Add in gourmet tea or coffee with delicious desserts for that perfect French lunch.

It's a sparkling tour of one of Paris's most influential districts.
