Overview

Appreciate panoramic views over Nice Castle and the Old Town after departing Nice with a brief stop at Mont Boron before heading down to the charming resort of Villefranche. Located on the other side of the mountain, it is situated on a breath-taking bay framed by verdant hills. This incredible location is home to two historic fortresses, the Fort du Mont Alban and the Citadel of Saint-Elme, a relic of its position on the crossroads between France and Italy.

Arrive at Monaco where you will enjoy 45 minutes of free time around the Prince’s Palace in Monaco-Ville, which is located on a picturesque promontory known as the Rock of Monaco. (The palace is open to the public from June to October.) Head to Monte Carlo, on the other side of the port, for a guided tour of the district and explore the area around the casino.

On the return leg, visit the hilltop hamlet of Èze, perched high above Cap Ferrat, and wander its winding, cobbled alleys. Whereas Monaco is famed for its flashy wealth, this area is renowned for being where the discreet and understated seek refuge. Admire timeless stone houses and pass under ancient arches of this picture-postcard village.

48 hours in Edinburgh A weekend of history, hiking and haggis!

Beautifully preserved Medieval and Georgian architecture, a world-renowned art and literature scene, awe-inspiring views, a rich cultural history and lip-smackingly good food; it’s no wonder Edinburgh inspired Burns’ adoration: “Edina! Scotia’s darling seat! All hail thy palaces and tow’rs…” Despite the huge amount on offer, the capital’s compact design allows for efficient sightseeing and makes … Continue reading "48 hours in Edinburgh A weekend of history, hiking and haggis!"
