Overview

The labyrinthine alleys of Toledo and Segovia welcome you on a day trip from Madrid. While Madrid is a mix of modern and historical Spain, these charming cities seem to be perennially stuck in time.

Small yet one of the most famous cities in Spain, Toledo is so well preserved that the entire historic city has been declared a National Monument! As you head from Madrid and reach closer to Toledo, you will be able to see the city perched on rocks and protected by a natural moat and man-made fortifications. Walk through the labyrinthine lanes accompanied by a local expert guide and see its major attractions. Known as the ‘City of Three Cultures’, for centuries Toledo has witnessed peaceful co-existence of Christians, Jews and Muslims and the examples of this multi-cultural history are aplenty. As you walk through the dark alleyways, don’t be surprised to bump into heavily decorated, massive historical cathedral, mosques, synagogues and more! Walk past the famous Cathedral of Toledo, Mirador del Valle, The Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes and the Bridge of San Martin.

After Toledo, it will be time for Segovia, home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites and an overload of historical monuments. From a double-tiered Roman aqueduct running through the old town and a castle-fortress perched on a hill, Segovia seems like a town out of a period drama. See local whiling their time at Plaza del Azoguejo, an old market square that was a place of trading in the ancient times and today is dotted by majestic buildings, shops and eateries.

Your tour also includes a visit to the Alcazar of Segovia, first built as an Arab fort eventually turned into a prison and later a military academy. Today, it houses a museum open for the public to enjoy.
