Make your way to Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, located at Paseo del Prado 8, 28014, Madrid
Experience a privately collected paradise for art lovers while silently thanking German-Hungarian industrialist Baron Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza de Kászon. His love for collection breathtaking pieces of art has been responsible for this incredible museum, not to mention the themed audio tours make it quite a rare and informative arty treat.
Beginning at the top floor, make your way down, exploring the largest privately-held art collections in the world. Although the name is slightly difficult to pronounce, the array of masterpieces you’ll find here more than makes up for it. Traverse through different periods of history while browsing the collection, from medieval art to Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Expressionism, Pop Art, Avant-Garde, and much more.
With the introduction of the themed audio tours, you can now choose what you learn about as you explore the museum. See the permanent collection with the history of gems and jewelry explained on the Gems Tour, or learn the role fashion has played in aristocracy and royalty with the Fashion Tour. You can also explore the permanent collection from the perspective of Miguel de Cervantes's masterpiece with The Museum as a Reflection of El Quixote Tour, or enjoy a contemporary reading of concepts like gender, identity, and sexual orientation with the Inclusive Love Tour.
