Overview

Home to a stellar infusion of highland essences, Inverness is claimed to be the capital of the Scottish Highlands. This tour of Inverness will treat you to the city’s incredible coastal villages Cromarty and Rosemarkie, the picturesque Black Isle, and a chance to get up close and personal with some adorable dolphins on board an optional Dolphin Cruise.

Embark on a picturesque drive to the village of Rosemarkie. Nestled on the south coast of the Black Isle Peninsula, the quaint village offers some stunning coastal views as well as the chance to regale in the history of the legendary Pictish Art, found mostly on stones and metalworks.

The historic town of Cromarty is up next, ready to mesmerise you with its vintage charms. From indulging your palate with indigenous Scottish flavours at exemplary restaurants to savouring some retail therapy at delightful art and handicraft stores to visiting the birthplace of the famous Scottish geologist and paleontologist Hugh Miller, Cromarty is the playground for a myriad of experiences. We will move on to witness and participate in an ancient Celtic tradition, visiting a small well inside a forest where people leave offerings for spirits and gods to get their wishes fulfilled. There’s nothing like cultural nuances to satiate our inner travellers and explorers, wouldn’t you agree?

Our final activity for the day - dolphin spotting - is an optional one, but we would highly recommend you to go for it as it one of the quintessential Black Isle experiences. Partnering with ‘Dolphin Spirit’, we will set sail on a boat specially designed to avoid disturbing these endearing creatures. Relish fascinating facts about these intelligent mammals as you watch bottlenose dolphins play around and using the Firth as their nursery. The perfect way to end a gorgeous day out in the Isles with a smile on your face!
