Formentera is the smallest inhabited island in the Balearics. You'll find dazzlingly whitewashed sugar-cube houses, unspoilt sandy beaches and unbelievably crystal-clear waters. The whole island seems virtually untouched by the modern world - you'll find few cars and no high-rise buildings. It is like travelling back in time to the Mediterranean that existed before mass tourism.
