Overview

Explore the famous historical landmarks of India- the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan as the mausoleum for his favourite queen Mumtaz Mahal. This famous historical landmark of India is one of the original Seven Wonders of the World. Constructed entirely out of white marble, it is an architectural masterpiece with four minarets, beautiful inlay work and marble screens. Often described as a teardrop on the cheek of time, it is also one of the most famous historical landmarks of India and reflects the grandeur and wealth of the Mughal empire.

The impressive architecture of the Red Fort at Agra also speaks volumes about the architectural skill of the Mughals. Built of red sandstone and marble, it offers incredible views of the Taj Mahal and the Yamuna River. Agra was the capital of the Mughal Empire, and this is reflected in the scale of the Red Fort. The fort houses mosques and royal pavilions like the Macchi Bhavan and Shah Jahani Mahal.
