Overview

Enjoy the best of Barcelona in this three hour walking tour of the Gothic Quarter. You’ll have a chance to sample some delicious traditional tapas as you learn about the origin and development of this civilized Spanish custom. Then sit back and enjoy a real flamenco show in the heart of the old town. This tour is ideal for anyone with an interest in food and culture, wishing another side to the vibrant and cosmopolitan capital of Catalunya.

The tour will start with a visit to a traditional tapas bar in the heart of Barcelona’s old town. As you enjoy a selection of delicious tapas, your friendly local guide will tell all you about the history and traditions associated with Spanish small-plate dining and experience for yourself the tantalizing tapas scene prevalent in Barcelona today. Try dry-cured Jamon Iberico, the best ham in the world, as you learn about the characteristics of this foodie’s delight.

Next we’ll go for a stroll around the Barri Gotic, Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, a maze of narrow streets opening up onto quiet squares where you’ll see the locals go about their everyday lives. You’ll see Roman walls, mediaeval merchants’ palaces and some wonderful churches including Barcelona’s magnificent Gothic Cathedral. The tour ends with a live flamenco show. Although native to the southern region of Andalusia, Barcelona has long been an important centre for this most passionate of art forms producing many local talents such as Carmen Amaya and Miguel Poveda, as well as attracting artistes from the South. Experience how music and dance intermingle in this improvisational art form with moments of both sombre concentration and fiery explosion. It’s bound to get your pulse racing.
