An intense dose of Middle Earth magic awaits on this half-day tour trailing some of the best scenes and locations of the iconic Lord of the Rings series.
Leave the city behind as we seek out some spectacular natural settings which transformed Wellywood in the fantastical universe we all wanted to be a part of. Our journey begins at the Hutt River, where the Fellowship voyaged down the Great River Anduin towards Amon Hen, move on to the Gardens of Isengard where Gandalf sought advice from Saruman the White about the Ring before Saruman’s orc army destroy the gardens, continue up Highway 2, and finally visit Kaitoke Regional Park, a stunning New Zealand rainforest that became Rivendell. Take some to soak up your pristine surroundings as you sip on a refreshing cup of afternoon tea and wander along the paths travelled by Elrond, Arwen and the newly formed Fellowship of the Ring.
Taking a break from our otherworldly experience, we will sit back and relax for a bit as we sip on to a cup of tea. The second half our journey begins with a visit to the quarry that was used as a backdrop for Helm’s Deep and Minas Tirith and then hiking up Mt Victoria. On the way, we will stop to admire the Outer Shire where the four Hobbits find a “Shortcut to Mushrooms,” famously “Get off the road,” and “Race to the Buckleberry ferry.” In fact, you’ll also get to relive the scene where Aragorn and Theoden overlook their troops at the “Dunharrow Encampment”. We’ll conclude our tour on a mesmerising note as we dig into breathtaking views of Wellington and ‘Wellywood’ from the Mt Victoria Lookout.
