A baroque architecture masterpiece, the Belvedere Palace in Vienna was once the summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy and is home to the largest and most precious Gustav Klimt collection in the world.

The Belvedere complex consists of two baroque palaces – Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere, the 21er Haus Museum and the Winter Garden.

The Upper Belvedere contains the largest collection of artworks of renowned artist Gustav Klimt. Klimt’s most famous work, The Kiss is displayed here. The art collection here is mostly focused on artwork from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with works from notable artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Schiele and Kokoschka.

The Lower Belvedere which was the living quarter of Prince Eugene, presently holds the art collection of the prince. It also houses the magnificent baroque state rooms – the Marble Gallery, the Golden Room and the Hall of Grotesques.

With your Belvedere Palace ticket, you will also get access to 21er Haus Museum, which houses a vast collection of contemporary Austrian artworks and holds special exhibitions.

You can also visit the Winter Garden, formerly an orangery which was converted into a museum of art of the middle ages.
