Overview
Discover the thrills and spills of white water rafting on the riffles and rapids of the Kiulu River.
This Grade Il and Grade IIl stretch of river is perfect for beginners. It has enough fast water to be fun and there are sections where you can learn the basics of maneuvering. However, there is nothing that would intimidate newcomers.
Whizz down the rapids and coast, swim or body raft in the deep pools. Watch the wildlife along the banks and enjoy the sensation of being outdoors and in touch with nature.
When all the fresh air and exercise has given you an appetite, a barbeque Lunch will be served beside the river!
Itinerary
You will be picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle for your White Water Rafting – Kiulu River, Kota Kinabalu tour. The drive from Kota Kinabalu to Kiulu River takes about 1 ½ hours by road and provides delightful views of the countryside along the way.
On arriving at the river bank, you will meet your rafting guide and receive a briefing on safety procedures. All participants are equipped with safety helmets and life-jackets.
Other than the thrill and excitement of riding the rapids, white water rafting is also an opportunity to see the forests and landscape from a different vantage point.
With headwaters from Mount Kinabalu, the Kiulu River provides a Grade Il to IIl experience and is suitable for newcomers to rafting. Grade Il reaches have moving water with a few riffles and small waves. There are few or no obstructions. Grade IIl sections give you easy rapids with waves up to 3 feet (1m) high and wide, clear channels that are obvious without scouting. Some maneuvering will be required.
Between the rapids there are deep pools where you can indulge in body-rafting or swimming.
This river excursion is between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the season. You will also be served a Barbeque lunch by the riverside.
After lunch, you will be taken back to your hotel in Kota Kinabalu where your tour ends.

The confirmation voucher includes the local activity operator’s contact details. They’re a nice bunch, and will happily answer any logistical questions you may have. Please give them a call at least 24 hours before your organised activity to reconfirm.
We suggest you not bring any valuables.
This activity is adults (and older children) only. Little ones under the age of 5 years will have to sit this one out, we’re afraid.
People on contact lenses are not advisable to participate.
You must be physically fit to participate in this tour.
It is essential that you bring along towel, separate set of clothing and shoes, sun block, hat, insect repellent and swimwear.
Raft is on sharing basis (minimum 2 people and maximum 6-8 people).
All participants are required to sign a Liability Release Form before departure.
A surcharge might be applicable if your pick-up and drop off locations are not centrally located.
