With your Gávea Rock Hiking Tour, you’ll climb one of the most enigmatic mountains in Brazil! Enjoy convenient hotel pick-up before starting your 2.5-hour climb to the top. Navigate through the densely forested Tijuca National Park and try to spot playful monkeys, colorful toucans, and other exotic wildlife. If you want to get a little sunshine and fresh air during your Rio sightseeing trip, then hiking to the top of Gávea Rock is what to do in Rio de Janeiro!

Take part in a little light climbing towards the end of the hike before taking in amazing views of major Rio de Janeiro attractions. From above, you can see Pedra Bonita, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf Mountain, and much more! And, while you’re there, see if you can find where centuries of erosion have created a “face” and what looks like an ancient inscription. Pick up is available from most hotels in the São Conrado, Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana (South Zone) areas of Rio de Janeiro. If we are not able to pick up from your hotel, an alternate pick-up location will be arranged upon reconfirmation.

Please be ready in your hotel lobby 5 minutes prior to the agreed pick-up time. The guide will come in and call you by name.

Hiking duration (round trip) is approximately 4 hours (3.7 miles) and is considered advanced hike with a bit of light climbing.

We recommend that you wear light clothes and hiking shoes.

Bring a small backpack with water, snacks, sunscreen, a sun hat, and cash if you want to buy anything along the way.

The tour date might change depending on weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
