Time to head to the north of the UAE and explore beyond the major cities. Ras Al Khaimah or RAK is the place to go. With natural surroundings and a haven for anyone who enjoys sandy beaches and the warm Emirates sun. Make the most of the seafront and sandy beaches. Be sure to check out nature and mountain vistas for stunning views. Add in a centuries-old fort and a National Museum, and you'll find there's more to Ras Al Khaimah than meets the eye.
Time to head away from Dubai: If you are looking for somewhere that's less crowded, and also, whisper it a bit cheaper! Ras Al Khaimah is a great to go. Perhaps even live!!
Watch what you wear: Although the Ras Al Khaimah region is a more liberal Emirate, you still need to wear a modest dress. Covering the knees and shoulders, for example, when entering a public place.

Best time to visit
The UAE enjoys year-round warm and sunny weather; however, the best time to visit is from late October to the middle of April. It's slightly cooler then, for starters! Summer can get very hot! November, December, and March are your best bets.
Although it's only 45 minutes from Dubai, taxis and frequent buses link to Ras Al Khaimah. So getting there should be a problem. Then getting around using the local taxi or bus services. Easy and very convenient.

Impress your fellow travellers with these tidbits of information:
• The UAE is perhaps not best known for having mountains, but visit Ras Al Khaimah, and that's where you'll find the highest peak in the region. Jebel Jais stands at 1,910m. Great for climbing and mountain biking! Oh, and some impressive views too.
• There is a reason why people come here for the beaches. How about 62km of white sandy beaches and clear blue water! Some like paradise.
• When you get away from the beaches, you'll find 18 historic fortifications, castles and towers in and around the city. Go seek them out.
