Overview

Is there a better smell than that of freshly baked bread? Think about it a moment! See, there isn’t is there? So when there's the opportunity to learn to bake a classic French baguette, you’ve got to jump at the chance. This two-hour class from a baking master will reveal the secrets to making the perfect baguette and croissant. You’ll be given the rare opportunity to go behind a Parisian bakery, and during a hands-on, step by step demonstration you’ll be making your own baguettes and croissants in no time at all. You’ll have baked, kneaded and learnt the family secrets in your two-hour class. Tasting is obligatory, and you’ll also get a goodie bag which includes half a baguette and croissant to munch on later in the day. It’ll taste better fresh, so you don’t want to waste it, do you?

About your guide:

For Meeting the French, touring the Eiffel tower is 'old school'. They don't herd you onto a bus and have you driven to the famous sights. Oh no, they focus on intimate and original experiences which celebrate the French lifestyle and culture, helping you to see the real Paris. The city they call home.

Here’s the plan

You’ll start your class when you reach the bakery, Le Petit Mitron. Then once behind the counter, you’ll need to roll your sleeves up as this is very much hands-on baking. The baker will be on hand to guide you through, teaching you the techniques and the secrets on how to get that crunchy golden crust and soft inside.

It's all about making and tasting, the perfect combination, as well as listening to the baker as his explains and demonstrates his art. Although it’s in French fear not! There's an excellent translator on hand, who won’t miss a thing. You may not understand him, but you’ll undoubtedly see his passion shine through.

At the end of the class, goodie bag in hand, and with the smell of freshly made baguettes and croissants tempting your taste buds. You'll have experienced a little of the French culture. Perfect.
