When in Paris, luxuriate like an aristocrat as you are picked up from your hotel in a private car accompanied by a driver guide. Say bonjour to the city glittering with history as you drive past the first major highlight – Opera Garnier to the wide Parisian boulevards of the city centre. There will be plenty of brief stops during the course of the tour where you can take memorable pictures with the best city backdrops.
Proceed to the arcaded Place Vendôme and then at the Louvre where the car stops for a short break. Observe the swarms of guidebook-toting tourists queued up at the entrance of the museum with the view of the Eiffel Tower just a few miles away. Spare some time to admire the grand museum complex built over a span of eight centuries and home to the world’s largest collection of artworks.
Next, continue along the River Seine to Ile de la Cité and delve into the formative years of the city with a guided visit to the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Learn why the statue of the St Dennis, the first Bishop of Paris, holds his head in his hands that led to a temple being replaced by a church. Do not miss the gargoyles hanging on the edge of the cathedral that multitask as rain spouts as well as ward off evil spirits!
After the tour, indulge in the artful pleasure of sipping coffee or tea like a local before heading to the more cosmopolitan Marais district with its grand mansions and contemporary boutiques. There will be a brief stop at Place des Vosges, one of the oldest squares in Paris.
Don’t be overwhelmed – not yet, as the tour continues to the Left Bank of the River Seine where you will drive past some more of Paris attractions like the Panthéon, Luxembourg Gardens, St Sulpice Church, St Germain and Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts. And not to forget, the bountiful Orsay Museum, the dominating Church La Madelaine, the fashionable Champs Elysées, the regimental Les Invalides Ecole Militaire and much more!
Before concluding your tour at your hotel, you will see the Palais Chaillot and the Arc de Triomphe and cross the café lined streets of Montmartre district to reach the white-domed Sacre Couer Cathedral for a short walk. Enjoy sweeping views of the city from the steps of the cathedral as the guide tells you about the bohemian history of the area frequented by creative masters like Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, TS Eliot and Ernest Hemingway.
Please call the activity operator at least 48 hours prior to start of the tour to confirm all departure details.
