Itinerary

  • You will travel to Giverny by train from Gare St Lazare station in Paris. Upon arrival, you will head to Claude Monet’s home, where the famous impressionist artist spent almost 43 years. Explore the residence, garden and studio at your leisure. Also referred to as the Painter of Light, Monet was one of the first artists of his time to step out of the studio and experiment with light, shadow and the different effects of sunlight on nature. He not only constructed paths, pergolas and planted a huge variety of flowers and shrubs, but also diverted a stream and made a pond. Monet filled the pond with water lilies and built a Japanese-style footbridge connecting the garden. All Monet’s efforts paid off, with his garden often the subject of many of his masterpieces. Visit Monet’s bedroom which boasts beautiful views over his beloved gardens, see the kitchen with blue and white Rouen tiles, and take in the artist’s collection of Japanese engravings. At the end of the tour, you will return to Paris by train.
