The tour of Versailles brings alive the history of not only France, but also of the rest of the Europe, for it was here that the famous treaty of Versailles, which ended World War I, was signed. Visit the Palace of Versailles and marvel at its luxury and magnificence as you go through the Royal Apartments, the Chapel, the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen's Apartments.
Also explore Monet’s house with its famous pink façade and green-painted shutters, the flower beds full of cheerful color, the arches laden with climbing plants, the wisteria-covered Japanese foot-bridge and the famous lily pond. Relax in your private car as your guide gives you an insight into the life and works of Claude Monet.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Paris, at 0900h (09:00am), you will travel in a private car accompanied by a driver/guide.
En route, your driver-guide will give you an introduction to the life and work of Claude Monet, the famous French impressionist painter. Stop at the cemetery to visit Monet’s tomb. The tour also includes a guided visit of Monet’s gardens and house, where you can see the famous water lilies.
Stroll through Claude Monet’s charming gardens and learn how his passion for color was expressed not only in the gardens he adored but also in the interior of his home. Visit the blue living room and the sunny yellow dining room; see the lovely tiled kitchen and the stunning collection of Japanese engravings.
Drive along the Route des Crêtes where you can enjoy an exceptional panorama over the Seine valley. See a watchtower of the 9th century built at the time of the Viking's Invasion and the château of La Roche Guyon that became Erwin Rommel's headquarter during World War II. Also, see the village of Vetheuil where Monet spent the 3 hardest years of his life, and also the Mantes la Jolie and its 12C gothic cathedral.
The guide will give you an introduction to the history of Versailles. Upon arrival in Versailles, visit the park, Grand Canal, Trianon, Hamlet of the Queen. The tour includes a guided visit of the Grand Apartments. Stroll through the Gardens and on Saturdays and Sundays, the Groves as well. In the summer on Tuesdays, Saturdays or Sundays, you can request to the see the magical fountain show in the garden (entry cost not included).
You will reach your hotel in Paris at around 1700h (5:00pm).
