Make your way to the Shaniwarwada
Same as starting point
Shaniwarwada is a historical fortification in the city of Pune dating back to 1732 when it was the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. Soon after 1818, the Peshwas lost control to the British East India Company after the Third Anglo-Maratha War and following the rise of the Maratha Empire, the palace became the center of Indian politics in the 18th century.
The fort itself was largely destroyed in 1828 by an unexplained fire, but the surviving structures are now maintained as a tourist site. It served as the loving home of Bajirao I and Kashi and is also significant for the valuable cultural history of India.
Be wonderstruck at the beautiful forts and fountains it has and the magnificent statue of Baji Rao I, which adorns the entrance of the fort is quite praiseworthy. Legend has it that these grounds are considered one of the most haunted places in Pune. Bravehearts can get up close and find out why!
