If you want a true taste of the Yucatán, then taking this tour is what to do in Mérida!

Do a little shopping for exotic, regional ingredients that’ll be used later in a traditional Yucatán meal. Learn about the local market culture and participate in the various customs and market rituals. Then, enter a typical Yucatán home and meet a friendly Mexican family before learning how to create authentic Mayan dishes. Finally, sit around the dinner table and savor the unique flavors of Mérida while learning about the daily life of an average local family. It’s one of the tastiest things to do in Mérida!

Latin Americans can be very conscious of appearance, so try to be casual but conservative in your dress. Outside of beach areas, halter tops and very short shorts should not be worn. When visiting churches or religious sites, shoulders and knees should be covered.

The tour will finish at the family house for the cooking lesson. You will be responsible for your transportation back to Merida; and, a taxi is recommended. We can help you to get a taxi back to your hotel.

Children between 6 and 11 years of age can join this tour at the rate listed above. Please select “child” above when booking. Children below 7 years will have to sit this one out.
