Itinerary

  • Your driver/guide will pick you up in an air-conditioned vehicle for this Sightseeing Tour of Les Baux de Provence. Your guide speaks French and English. Arrive in the village of Lex Baux de Provence, nested on a rocky ledge in the heart of the Alpilles Mountains. With evidence of human habitation in Les Baux dating back the prehistoric era, the antique character of the place has been preserved to a remarkable extent. Breath in the rarefied air of the ancients as you walk along cobblestoned streets past medieval stone houses that whisper of a simpler time. Visit the 11th century chapel at The Church of Saint Vincent, which is dug right out of rock, and study the lavishly painted walls in the Chapel of the White Penitents. Walk out to a rocky promontory to enter the ghostly ruins of the Le Baux Castle and take in astonishing views of the verdant countryside. Visit an olive farm and learn from its proprietors about the delicate process of making olive oil. Finish the day with a tasting of the regional oils that have made Provence famous. Your driver/guide will drop you back at your hotel in Marseille at tour’s end.
