Overview

See the entire Sarawak state come together at the Sarawak Cultural Village. A unique, living museum, Sarawak Cultural Village offers you an excellent introduction to local cultures and lifestyles of the various ethnic groups in Sarawak.

You will visit replica buildings representing the seven major ethnic tribal houses - Bidayuh Longhouse, Iban Longhouse, Penan Hut Orang Ulu Longhouse, Melanau Tall House, Malay House and Chinese Farm House. Meet and interact with the people from these ethnic groups, dressed in their traditional attires. Demonstration of arts and crafts like beadwork, wood and bamboo carvings, pua weaving and straw weaving can be seen while touring the village. You may learn how to throw a Malay spinning top, shoot a Penan blowpipe or pick out a tune on an Orang Ulu sape.

The rich cultural heritage in Malaysia, presented in the form of dances and music by various ethnic groups, is one of the highlights of the visit. The grand cultural show, which lasts about one hour, is performed in the Village theater. Take delight in jiving away to the traditional Malay beats during the lively cultural performances.
