Overview

Explore Sarawak’s oldest national park and see its unique flora and fauna. Bako National Park is a well-maintained network of 16 color-coded jungle trails containing almost every type of vegetation found in Borneo.

In two days, you will walk through some of the most fascinating trails and spot unique wildlife including the rare 150 proboscis monkey, found only in this region. Along the sandy footpaths, you will also find the insect-eating pitcher plants that have been known to devour over small mammals.

Itinerary

DAY 1

You will depart for Bako National Park from Kuching at 8:30am and reach a fishing village from where you will take a boat to the park headquarters. Once you are at the park, you will explore the varied flora and fauna of Baku spread across seven distinct ecosystems: beach vegetation, cliff vegetation, mangrove, peat swamp forests, mixed dipterocarp forest, heath forest and grasslands.

As you hike through the forests, spot unique wildlife like the long-tailed macaques and silver leaf monkeys. There are 16 trails, each covering different aspects of the Park.  Tell your guide what interests you and get the most out of your time at Bako.

In the evening, you will head out on a night trail to spot for nocturnal residents of the forests like the flying lemur, mouse deer, bearded pigs, bats, tarsiers, slow loris and palm civet cats. After the trail, you will return to the park headquarters and retire for the day in the guesthouse.

Lunch and dinner is the park canteen is included.

Tour departure between Nov – Feb is dependent on the weather.  The substitute tour is to the Gunung Gading National Park.
