Overview
Sitting on one of the richest gold-bearing reefs, Johannesburg or ‘eGoli’ has grown into a 2500 square kilometres mammoth city and the financial capital of South Africa. Affectionately called ‘Jo’berg’ or ‘Jozi’ by South Africans, this dynamic city is an interesting blend of old structures and glass-sheathed buildings.A storage vault of history and culture of the African people awaits you at South Africa’s largest township - Soweto. An acronym for ‘South Western Township’, Soweto stands testimony to the segregation of the blacks by the white colonisers. One of the most stark reminders of apartheid is the Hector Pieterson Memorial, named after a 13-year old student who was shot during a student demonstration against apartheid laws.
Itinerary
You will be picked up from your hotel/closest pick-up point in either Sandton or Rosebank and taken in a luxury air-conditioned vehicle for a city sightseeing tour of Johannesburg and historical sightseeing tour to Soweto, South Africa's largest township. A professional English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.
This 'Amandla Tour' combines the sightseeing tour of Soweto as well as sightseeing tour of Johannesburg.
Travel along the footpaths of our freedom fighters and experience the city of Johannesburg and Soweto through their eyes on this full day tour. Highlights include the Regina Mundi Church, Soweto Cooling Towers, Vilikazi Street, Freedom Square, Hector Pieterson Memorial, Nelson Mandela Bridge and Constitution Hill.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel/closest drop-off point.
