Overview

Visit the beautiful and evocative ruins of San Ignacio Mission. Once one of the most prosperous Jesuit settlements in South America, it was abandoned in the 18th century and lost under a tangle of jungle for many years.

Skillful restoration has revealed the splendid red sandstone church and other buildings, as well as the lovely stone carving executed by the Guarani Indians. Wander through the ruins enjoying the special atmosphere of this enchanting place.

The next part of your tour is something quite different. You’ll visit the fascinating Wanda Mines where cataclysmic natural forces have left a legacy of beautiful gemstones such as amethyst, topaz, agate, jasper and rock crystal.
