The Macuco Safari dock on the Brazilian side of the Iguassu Falls is like a painter’s canvas with blue skies, rainbows and sapphire-colored water. Feel the surge of adrenalin as you ride down Iguassu River on an inflatable raft to the formidable Devil’s Throat, largest of the waterfalls. The horseshoe-shaped Devil’s Throat will offer you a 360-degree view of the Falls, leaving you spellbound!
This tour is a lot of fun, be prepared to get wet!
For your Macuco Safari and Rafting Expedition at Iguassu Falls you will be picked up from your hotel in Foz do Iguassu and taken to Iguassu National Park.
The adventure begins at the entrance to the Macuco Safari, located 15 miles (25 km) down Cataratas Highway inside Iguassu National Park. You will travel through the jungle on open jeep-towed wagons that allow for an unobstructed view of the scenery along the trail. During the stretch of 1.8 miles (3 km) through the jungle, multi-lingual guides will point out examples of the flora and fauna of the Park.
In this forest full of natural riches, you can expect to see orchids, palm trees, bromeliads, centenaria trees, and even wild animals that occasionally cross the trail.
The second part of your journey takes the form of a short hike. Follow a trail of about 600 meters, to a waterfall called ‘Macuco Falls (optional). The waterfall – perfect for a refreshing dip on hot days – spills down from a height of approximately 20 meters. Access is via a stairway carved into the ancient rock. The last stop is the Macuco Safari docks on the Brazilian side of the Iguassu River.
In the water, inflatable bi-motor boats await you. They´re constructed to withstand the rigors of the excursion, as well as being secure and efficient vessels. Before embarkation, passengers receive life-vests and plastic containers in which to protect photographic and filming equipment. The boat travels up-river passing the canyon facing the rapids at a speed that allows for scenic viewing.
Rocks, animals and ample amounts of greenery complete the scenery until the base of the Falls is reached, next to the ‘great horseshoe’ known as ‘The Devils Throat’.
Enjoy a waterfall shower. Rainbows, blue sky, mist and water in abundance, punctuate the spectacle whose high-point is the ‘The Three Musketeers’. Here the captain maneuvers the boat in order to get close enough to provide the passengers with a quick and refreshing shower.
At the end of your jungle adventure, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
