Itinerary

Day 1: Bamburgh Castle & East Lothian Coastline

On the first day of your tour, leave Edinburgh and head along the beautiful East Lothian coastline to Berwick-upon-Tweed. Pause to check out the town's walls before moving on to Bamburgh Castle—a huge castle by the sea standing for over 1400 years.

Continue towards York on the Great North Road, a historic route for Roman legions. In the late afternoon, reach York, where you'll stay for the next two nights.

Day 2: City of York OR North York Moors National Park, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay

The second day of our tour offers an array of experiences to choose from. You can easily choose to stay back in the city and explore its exceptional Norman, Vikings and Roman lineage, visiting a range of ethereal attractions from the iconic Gothic-style York Minster to the time capsule style Jorvik Viking Centre.

If you are more of the outdoorsy type, worry not because we will take you for an excursion to the North York Moors National Park to get sucked into into its dreamy and wild panorama. Traversing through the moors, we will arrive for a delectable lunch at Whitby, a busy fishing port that was home to Bram Stoker while he whipped up the legendary Dracula.

We will also visit the pretty village of Robin Hood’s Bay where you can roam around the narrow backlanes and lose yourself to the mysterious little hamlet which is believed to be connected by a secret labyrinth of subterranean passages. Just remember that we will only be able to drive to the outskirts of village since vehicles access and you would have make a steep climb down to the village and back up to the car.

Day 3: Yorkshire Dales National Park and Cattle Trade at Northern Dales

The third day of our tour continues our moorish adventure as we head out to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Shrouded in heather moorlands, picture-perfect villages, rolling green valleys and a brilliant diversity of wildlife, the place is a hiker’s dream. The gargantuan region is treat for everyone and one could possibly spend years wandering here without ever getting bored.

The itinerary takes us to the heart of The Dales’ cattle trade in the northern parts of the territory, a quintessential sight in the English countryside. We will also be travelling around some of the remotest hills of the Yorkshire Dales for a full-blown experience of this insanely gorgeous landscape.

We will finally arrive at the bustling Keswick which you can tour by yourself in your free time as we will be staying here for the final two nights.

Day 4: Castlerigg Standing Stones, Ullswater and Windermere Lakes, Aira Force Waterfalls, Wordsworth’s Life at Hawkshead and Grasmere

Our journey into the breathtaking Lake District begins today, with our first stop being the Castlerigg Standing Stones. An evidence of the megalithic tradition from the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Ages, it is one of the earliest stone circles with the lofty mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat offering a sublime backdrop.

Our visual delight continues as we visit Ullswater, regarded as the most beautiful lake of England, and embark on a fantastic hike through exuberant forests to reach the ravishing Aira Force Waterfalls which has even been referenced by Wordsworth in The Somnambulist. Driving through the majestic Kirkstone Pass, taking in the dazzling views, we will then head to the beautiful Lake Windermere. You can either indulge in a tranquil cruise on the glassy waters of the Lake or relish a delectable lunch along the shores surrounded by exquisite beauty.

Post lunch, we will trail the poet William Wordsworth’s life, starting at the village of Hawkshead where he attended his Grammar School. We will comfortably tour this conservation village before embarking on the narrow country lanes leading to the alluring village of Grasmere, described by the poet himself as “the loveliest spot that man hath found”. Please your senses rambling around this tiny hamlet where you can Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage which was his residence or lose yourself to the heavenly serenity of the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden which inspired the iconic poem.

Day 5: Hartside Pass, Hadrian's Wall, Roman Dere Street, Jedburgh and Scott's View

The final day of our tour leads us to spellbinding Hartside Pass, towering over the English and Scottish countryside at over 1900 feet. The enchanting stretch of Scottish highlands and the English Lake District are distinctly visible on a clear day, whose enticing beauty can move even the hardest of the souls. We will follow the trails of local shepherds for a true-blue experience of the region.

Next up is the historic Hadrian’s Wall, a living testament to the Roman rule in Britain. Dating back to AD 122, it formed the northernmost boundary of the Roman empire back in the days. Take some time to explore the fascinating ruins as we follow the footsteps of Roman Centurions who patrolled the area - a feast for history lovers. Proceeding along the Roman Dere Street and crossing the border into Scotland, we will make at stop at Jedburgh and refresh ourselves near the ruins of the Abbey.

Before we return to Edinburgh, we will treat you to one final round of visual ecstasy at the renowned Scott’s View where you can sink into astounding views of the River Tweed and Cheviot Hills and end our tour on terrific note.
