The market was built in the time of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan and has a fortified gate at one end. The displays of hundreds of spices and condiments are arranged in neat colourful piles making it a visual treat.
A tour to Delhi will be incomplete without visiting this unique and colourful market.
You will be picked up from your hotel and travel in an air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by a guide, to Khari Baoli.
Stroll through the large number of bustling, busy and colourful lanes of the area. See the man-power intensive market as it goes through its daily routine. View the process of manual loading and unloading of the spices. Labourers wrestle with huge sacks of products onto or off long wooden trolleys. Watch as customers and shop keepers bargain, select and make deals on the countless exotic spices.
Be amazed at the apparently chaotic activity that is actually well organised with daily business turnovers in millions of dollars.
Despite being a wholesale market, one can actually buy small quantities of spices. Your guide will tell you about the spices, the flavours they impart and how they can be combined with other spices to impart a totally different flavour.
After a tour of this amazing market you will be taken back to your hotel where your tour ends.
Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to start of the tour for reconfirming departure details.
