This delightful 6-day tour takes you beneath towering mountains, along rocky coasts, past forest and fynbos (bush), lakes and lagoons, and breathtakingly beautiful bays and beaches.
Against this scenic backdrop you’ll enjoy special treats such as historic architecture, spectacular caverns, wine-tasting and wonderful wildlife.
From Cape Town travel to Oudtshoorn, center of the world’s ostrich farming industry. See the fairytale grottoes of Cango, sculpted by nature over eons of time.
Admire the coastlines of Victoria Bay, Knysna and Tsitsikamma and stop at lovely Plettenberg Bay. Marvel at Bloukrans Bridge, the highest single span arch bridge in the world and the location for a dizzyingly high bungy jump.
Your tour ends at Port Elizabeth – the “friendly city” – and you may find yourself making a solemn promise to return to this gorgeous part of the world as soon as possible!
There are two options for your 6-Day Garden Route Tour (subject to availability at the time of booking). On the Superior Option there is a combination of 3 and 4 star hotels, guest houses and lodges. The Standard Option uses 3 star accommodation hotels, lodges or guest houses.
Day 1: Tuesday, Cape Town – Oudtshoorn
At the start of your 6-Day Garden Route Tour you will be picked up from your hotel in the City Center, Green Point or Sea Point. You will travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking guide. Travel through Montagu, a historic spa town, and the ‘Little Karoo’. Enjoy a wine tasting, along Route 62, known as “The World’s Longest Wine Route”. In the town of Barrydale, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a local farm school, interact with the children and teachers, spending time with them in the classroom learning more about the local farming community, before continuing to Oudtshoorn, the “ostrich feather capital” and centre of the world’s ostrich farming industry.
You will stay the night at Oudtshoorn and dinner is included in your package.
Day 2: Wednesday, Oudtshoorn
Enjoy breakfast (included) before visiting an Ostrich Farm for a guided tour. You will then visit the spectacular limestone caverns known as the Cango Caves, one of the world’s great natural wonders, sculpted by nature through the ages. In the afternoon you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch (optional and payable direct), the oldest and biggest cheetah contact center worldwide, offering visitors interaction with hand-reared cheetahs.
You will stay the night at Oudtshoorn. Dinner is payable direct.
Day 3: Thursday, Oudtshoorn – Knysna
After breakfast (included) continue over the Outeniqua Pass to George, the sixth oldest town in South Africa, with many historical landmarks like the Slave Tree and the King Edward VII Library building, said to be the best example of Edwardian architecture in the town. The tour travels via Victoria Bay, a beautiful cove enclosed by cliffs, to Wilderness, an attractive holiday resort with beautiful beaches. In the afternoon you’ll reach Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, nestling on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route.

Day 4: Friday, Knysna
After a leisurely breakfast (included) you’ll enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, where you can take a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head to enjoy panoramic views of the town and lagoon, returning for lunch (included) under the milkwood trees. The afternoon is at leisure to further explore this charming town set around a natural harbour lagoon.

Day 5: Saturday, Knysna – Tsitsikamma
Enjoy breakfast (included), then travel to lovely Plettenberg Bay before continuing to Bloukrans Bridge, the highest single span arch bridge in the world, currently offering the highest commercially operated Bungy Jump in the world.
Visit the Tsitsikamma National Park and Storms River Mouth (weather permitting). The Tsitsikamma National Park incorporates 80 km (48 miles) of rocky coastline with spectacular sea and landscapes.
Stay overnight in the Tsitsikamma area. Dinner is payable direct.
Day 6: Sunday, Tsitsikamma – Port Elizabeth
After breakfast (included), head eastwards along the Tsitsikamma Forest to Port Elizabeth, known as the “friendly city”, with a wonderful climate and a world-famous Oceanarium and Snake House (entrance not included). Enjoy a city orientation tour of Port Elizabeth. Your tour ends at Port Elizabeth and you can ask to be dropped at Port Elizabeth airport if you wish.
