    Combine the glories of South Africa’s Garden Route with the delights of the Cape Winelands on this magical 6-day getaway. Among much else you’ll discover some of the finest coastal scenery in the world, delightful architecture, stunning views, ostriches, vibrant flowers in all shapes and sizes, lush forests and delicious wines.

    From Cape Town travel to Oudtshoorn, center of the world’s ostrich farming industry. Travel through Klein Karoo and the Outeniqua Mountain Pass.

    Enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve and a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head. Travel along one of the most breathtaking stretches of the Garden Route - where mountains, forests, deep gorges, and lush vegetation hug the rugged coastline of cliffs and sandy beaches. - and visit George and Mossel Bay all the way to Albertinia.

    Stop at the charming village of Franschhoek and the seaside resort of Hermanus - the world’s land-based whale-watching capital - before concluding your tour in the scenic Cape Winelands.

    Itinerary

    There are two options for your 6-Day Garden Route and Winelands Tour (subject to availability at the time of booking). On the Superior Option there is a combination of 3 and 4 star hotels, guest houses and lodges. The Standard Option uses 3 star accommodation hotels, lodges or guest houses.

    Day 1: Cape Town – Oudtshoorn

    At the start of your 6-Day Garden Route and Winelands Tour you will be picked up from your hotel in the City Center, Green Point or Sea Point. You will travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking guide.

    Travel through Montagu, a historic spa town, and the ‘Little Karoo’. In the town of Barrydale, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a local farm school, interact with the children and teachers, spending time with them in the classroom learning more about the local farming community, before continuing to Oudtshoorn, the “ostrich feather capital” and centre of the world’s ostrich farming industry.

    You will stay the night at Oudtshoorn and dinner is included in your package.

    Day 2: Oudtshoorn – Knysna

    Enjoy breakfast (included) then take a tour of the limestone caverns of the Cango Caves, one of the world’s great natural wonders, sculpted by nature through the ages. Return to Oudtshoorn for a tour and light lunch (included) at an ostrich farm. You will then continue over the Outeniqua Pass to George, the sixth oldest town in South Africa, with many historical landmarks like the Slave Tree and the King Edward VII Library building. Continue to Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, nestling on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route.

    You will stay the night in Knysna. Dinner is payable direct.

    Day 3: Knysna

    After breakfast (included)  Enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, where you can take a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head to enjoy panoramic views, returning for lunch under the milkwood trees (included).

    The afternoon is at leisure to further explore this charming town set around a natural harbour lagoon.

    You will stay the night at Knysna. Dinner is payable direct.

    Day 4: Knysna - Albertinia

    After a leisurely breakfast (included), travel via George and Mossel Bay to Albertinia, which is at the foot of humungous Langeberg Mountain Range. Relish the open vehicle drive in the afternoon through a private game reserve. This reserve is the home to numerous animals and birls that includes the Big Five.

    You will stay the night at Albertinia and dinner is included in your package.

    Day 5: Albertinia – Hermanus

    Today, begin the day with an early morning breakfast followed by an open vehicle game drive to capture Big Five and mesmerizing birds. The journey further continues to the seaside resort of Hermanus, known as the heart of the whale route, offering the best land-based whale-watching (Aug-Nov) in the world.

    You will stay the night in Hermanus and dinner is included in your package.

    Day 6: Hermanus – Cape Town

    After a leisurely breakfast (included) depart Hermanus and continue to Franschhoek. This being a picture perfect village with marvellous vineyards all around and letting you experience old French wine, food and culture. Learn more about the village listening to stories from your guide. A wine tasting will be enjoyed before travelling on to Cape Town, where the tour ends on arrival.

    School visit is subject to school being open.

    You will be travelling together in a luxury vehicle with a professional guide providing a fantastic quality holiday experience. You do have a choice of accommodation options, which may be offered at the same hotel, or at different hotels in the same vicinity.

    This activity is adults (and older children) only. Little ones under the age of 8 years will have to sit this one out, we’re afraid.

    Our supplier needs at least 2 people on the tour to be able to go ahead. There is also a single supplement rate which will apply should you have a third person travelling.
