Overview
After being picked up from your hotel, you will head to downtown Bogota, where you will discover the La Candelaria neighbourhood, home to Baroque, art deco and colonial architecture. Visit Colombia’s treasured National Theatre, Colón Theatre, a fine example of neoclassical architecture, before heading to the 17th century San Ignacio church, inspired by the Gesù church in Rome.
Admire the official residence of the President of Colombia, House of Nariño, and make your way to the heart of the historic centre at the famous Bolivar Square. The vast square is flanked by grandiose buildings such as the Cathedral, Palace of Justice and National Capitol, all of which will inspire and stimulate your senses. Visit the glittering Gold Museum (which if you take the tour on Monday will be replaced by the Botero exhibition) with one of the largest collection of pre-Hispanic goldwork. Discover how metal was used by pre-historic societies who lived in Colombia in a gold-mine of information.
End the tour on a high note and enjoy a cable car ride up to the breath-taking viewpoint of Monserrate, where unparalleled vistas across the city unfold before your eyes. If you take the tour on Sunday, this will be replaced by la Quinta de Bolivar.
