Overview

Take advantage of a great value with the All Access Jewish Cultural Quarter ticket!

Relive the history of the Jews in the Netherlands at the Jewish Historical Museum! Fine art, religious artifacts, and items from domestic life tell the tale of Jewish immigration, assimilation, and persecution in Amsterdam. Then, in the adjacent Children’s Museum, follow your energetic guide, Max the Matzo, through a beautifully recreated, typical Jewish home. It’s a great experience for the whole family!

Pay homage to the fallen at the National Holocaust Memorial. Here, you can see the spot where more than 80,000 Dutch Jews were processed before deportation to Nazi concentration camps. Inside, the harrowing story is told through photographs, maps, and other artifacts from the World War II era.

Finally, at the Portuguese Synagogue, you’ll get a look at a beautiful example of Sephardic architecture from the 1600’s. Unassuming from the outside, the Portuguese Synagogue boasts of a breath-taking interior that is still used for religious ceremonies today. The sheer size of this holy building is a testament to the size and wealth of the Amsterdam Sephardic community during the Dutch Golden Age. Don’t overlook this hidden gem!
