Overview

Stunning in its natural beauty, Wadi Rum epitomizes the romance of the desert. This Jordanian desert has been casting a spell for centuries with its lunar landscape of deep ancient valleys and towering sandstone mountains rising out of the sand. A major chunk of David Lean’s epic movie Lawrence of Arabia was filmed in Wadi Rum.

The vast silence and grandeur of Wad Rum is best experienced on foot. Hikers can enjoy the tranquillity of the boundless empty spaces, explore the canyons and water holes and discover 4000-year-old rock drawings among the other spectacular treasures this vast wilderness holds in store.

No visit to Jordan can be complete without exploring the unparalleled natural beauty of Wadi Rum.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in a private air-conditioned car/mini van and taken to the awe-inspiring desert of Wadi Rum, about 300 kilometers from Amman.

Here, the weather and winds have carved imposing, towering skyscrapers of red sandstone walls and orange sand dunes leaning against them.

Arrive at the village of Rum which is inhabited by the Bedouin tribes. At the Government Rest House located just inside the village, you will board a 4WD and begin your two-hour exploration of this majestic region with a Bedouin driver.

Your 4WD will be followed by a three-hour hike inside the desert. A local Bedouin guide will accompany you and narrate interesting Bedouin tales about this vast desert. Enjoy the famous desert mountains so beautifully described by T.S. Lawrence, the legendary Lawrence of Arabia, in his book ‘Seven Pillars of Wisdom’.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Amman.
