Our tips for Aix

  • Even if you’re not an art buff, we recommend you visit the former studio of Paul Cézanne. Not exactly a museum in the classical sense, the experience is more about putting yourself in the painter’s shoes to get an idea of how he lived and worked.
  • The Saint-Sauveur Cathedral is an absolute must-visit and a major tourist attraction. Take in the eye-catching mix of styles and visit the Baptistery, the oldest part of the cathedral.
  • Aix is full of charming eateries and cafes. Make sure that you enjoy your fill of Mediterranean cuisine and a number of other local delicacies. Sample the fresh fruits, vegetables and cheese at the Farmer’s Market in the heart of Aix-en-Provence.

Good to know

March to May and September through November are the best months to visit Aix. Summer is peak tourist season so if planning a visit then, make sure to book your tickets months in advance as prices soar.
