Your lovely Downton Country Location Tour experience begins when you make your way to the Gloucester Road Underground Station. Your guide will be standing outside Flowers Inc, next to the station entrance.
You depart central London by a luxury, air conditioned mini coach and take a 90 minute (approx) journey to the heart of rural Oxfordshire. Here you’ll see several villages that feature in the enduringly popular Downton Abbey TV series. On the way you can watch episodes of Downton Abbey.
You’ll visit Downton Village and enjoy a guided tour of familiar sites such as Downton hospital, the village pub, the home of Matthew Crawley and the local church. A short comfort break will be taken here.
You then take a short stop at Kirkbymoorside which was used as the pretty setting for the pub where Bates works when he leaves Downton Abbey. A visit to the pub where Branson and Lady Sybil elope in the second series is included, too.
You next proceed to the beautiful grounds that were used as the setting of Downton Place in series 3. Here lunch can be taken (payable direct) and you will be able to explore the 16th century house and grounds.
In the afternoon you’ll enjoy a guided tour, by the owner, of the property used as the home of the Dowager Countess. Here you can enjoy tea in the ‘Downton Room’ where many of the scenes featuring Maggie Smith take place.
At the end of the day, you will be driven back to the Gloucester Road Tube station where your tour ends at about 1800h (6:00pm).
