Itinerary

Day 1: Stuart Macaskill Lakes, Hutt Valley, Kaitoke National Park, Lake Onoke, Putangirua Pinnacle, Matakitaki-a-Kupe, Cape Palliser and Martinborough
  • Enjoy a scenic drive up to the stunning Stuart Macaskill Lakes through the panoramic Hutt Valley, including a visit to the Kaitoke National Park and the filming site of Rivendell.
  • Drive over the majestic Remutaka Ranges, taking in the breathtaking scenery, right up to the Lake Ferry Hotel for a sumptuous lunch on the shores of Lake Onoke.
  • Gaze in awe at the ‘badlands erosion’ of Putangirua Pinnacles, an incredible collection of pillar-like formations and one of the many wonders of Nature.
  • Meet adorable fur seals at North Island’s largest permanent colony in Matakitaki-a-Kupe.
  • Hike up the Cape Palliser Lighthouse to treat yourself to some truly unforgettable views
  • Dig into a lovely dinner at the historic Martinborough Hotel.
Day 2: Deliverance Cove Track, Castle Rock, Mataikona Rocks and Culinary Tastings (wines, craft beers, chocolates and more)
  • Trail the Deliverance Cove Track to visit the magnificent Castle Rock or Motutere.
  • Wander around the breathtaking lagoon and climb up the Castlepoint Lighthouse for some truly unparalleled views.
  • Relish a delicious lunch at Whakataki Hotel.
  • Check out the incredibly elusive Mataikona Rocks which only reveal themselves at low tides.
  • Savour three tastings at any of the following (changes every day) - an exceptional range of local wineries, a chocolate maker, craft brewery, cheesemaker or infused olive oil producer.

Pick up service from downtown Wellington commences 30 minutes prior to tour departure. We have selected hotels listed, but guests are welcome to request their own hotel and we will confirm if it's possible.
