Overview

Kanyakumari, the Land’s End of India is a beautiful seaside town surrounded on three sides by three different seas – The Arabian Sea on the West, the Indian Ocean on the South and the Bay of Bengal on the East. The town gets its name from the presiding Deity – the Goddess Kanya Kumari, an incarnation of Parvati.

The Vivekananda Rock Memorial on which Swami Vivekananda meditated is one of the popular tourist attractions in Kanyakumari. Also on this rock, which is about 500 metres from the mainland, are said to be the footprints of the Goddess known as Pada Parai. Next to this memorial is a gigantic sculpture of the Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. The statue is 133 feet high signifying the 133 chapters of his magnum opus – The Thirukkural.

Itinerary

Enjoy an excursion to Kanyakumari (Cape Comorin) from Trivandrum. It is the southernmost point of the Indian mainland and is famous for the spectacular views of sunsets and sunrises it affords.

Enroute visit Padmanabhapuram and Suchindram.

A little way from the shore is the Vivekananda Rock memorial, a rock in the sea where Swami Vivekananda, the renowned social reformer, is said to have meditated. Close by, is a gigantic statue of the Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, author of the Thirukkural.

After then you will be dropped back to your hotel.
