With a great wealth of historical buildings, temples and artifacts, several sections of Gyeongju have been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Visit a number of such remarkable attractions to learn about one of the golden periods of Korean history.

Gyeongju National Museum: Enjoy your first visit to the beautiful Gyeongju National Museum. Witness precious exhibits on Gyeongju district’s cultural history. Don’t forget to observe sculptures and art from the Korean Buddhist movement (popular during the Silla period) at the outdoor museum grounds.
Anapji Pond: Proceed to the Gyeongju National Park, where the most impressive Anapji Pond is situated. Extending over 1,500 square metres of area, this oval artificial lake is a prized Korean attraction that reveals the love of ancient Silla kings for everything exotic.
Cheomseongdae Observatory: Head to the oldest existing astronomical observatory in Asia, used for observing the stars in order to forecast the weather. This stone structure is a beautiful combination of straight lines and curves, and has been designated as National Treasure No. 31.
Tumuli Park: End this day with a visit to Tumuli Park (Daereungwon Tomb Complex) that contains over two dozen tombs of kings and noblemen of the Silla Kingdom, the most famous being Cheonmachong and Hwangnamdaechong. Marvel at the 11,526 royal remains and crowns inside these tombs demonstrating the lavish lifestyle of the kings and queens.
