Overview

The tour begins with a visit to the historic city centre, where the first stop will take you to the central plaza (Plaza de Armas), built on top of an ancient Incan settlement. Here you will find kilometre zero the heart of the capital, where the construction of Santiago began during the colonial era. As you look around you will be able to see old buildings, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, a beautiful building that combines Bavarian and neoclassical styles.

Continue as you stroll through the Civic District, named due to the large number of public buildings in the area. Its most important being the Palacio de la Moneda, a silent witness of the most relevant event in our republican history. To conclude the historical area, a tour by the old and stately neighbourhoods of the old “high society”, a place full of an exquisite architectonic variety brought by immigrants, mainly European, in a time of great mining exploitation and high-born families.

Then admire magnificent panoramic views from one of the hills in the city (Cerro Santa Lucía or Parque Metropolitano), where it is possible to appreciate a part of the mountain-chain slopes that surround the city to, afterwards, head to the western area to see the great architectonic contrast. Here stands modern and daring buildings that are the symbol of a prosperous and contemporary city.
